Awards season is one of the most visible expressions of black tie.

Red carpets, ceremonies, and after-parties show how formal dressing is evolving and what feels current, confident, and intentional.

I cover awards season because I love the glamour, and I love making it feel accessible. This is not a best-dressed list. It is not a scoreboard. I watch because patterns show up here first, and those patterns eventually reach the rest of us: charity galas, museum fundraisers, and formal evenings that matter in our own lives.

If you have ever stared at an invitation and wondered what the room will feel like, awards season can actually help. It offers clues. It gives examples. And it reminds us that even the most glamorous nights are still just people trying to feel beautiful and confident in public.

Why Awards Season Matters Beyond Hollywood

Awards season does not dictate what women wear to real events, but it does help reveal what feels acceptable, confident, and current.

What appears on step-and-repeat images and backstage snapshots often filters into formal events in quieter ways: silhouettes, fabrics, styling choices, and even posture.

Over time, what starts as celebrity fashion becomes normal in places like gala dinners, museum benefits, and black tie fundraisers. Watching closely helps demystify black tie, not copy it.

My goal is not to turn anyone into a red carpet clone. It is to make formal dressing feel easier, more modern, and less intimidating.

What You’ll Find Here

This space will include links to articles I've written about awards season.

  • I try to take my observations from the shows I go to in person, people I meet, and what I read and see on TV, and turn all that into useful tips that you and I can use at formal events we go to throughout the year.

  • I think hard about how awards season intersects with year-round black tie culture.

  • I look for patterns you and I can actually apply to our own events, and context that helps us get dressed with more confidence
